Multi-Level Basement Waterproofing Project - Hanger lane, London

Onyx Basement Services were engaged to support an exciting new development in London, delivering waterproofing design and installation for a substantial below-ground structure. The project involved a three-storey basement beneath a residential building, which upon completion will feature 59 residential units, as well as shared amenities including a communal gym and cinema room.

A key challenge in designing a waterproofing system for a multi-unit basement is ensuring effective compartmentalization while maintaining continuity across the entire system. In such developments, separating individual units within a shared basement footprint can present difficulties in preserving the integrity and performance of the waterproofing design.

To address this, a fire-retardant Type C membrane system was selected. This approach ensures the waterproofing remains continuous between adjoining basement units, while also mitigating the risk of flame spread between properties—an essential consideration in multi-residential environments.
