External waterproofing systems work by protecting the outside of a structure against water ingress. External barriers can be pre-applied to new concrete structures or post- applied to masonry or block-work structures. They are typically used on flat roofs, parapets and walls that are exposed to rainfall and hydrostatic pressure.

The most common external barrier systems we use are bitumen polymer modified liquid applied products but there are other options available such as fully bonded pre-applied hydro reactive, self-healing carpet membranes which offer different benefits depending on the application requirements. These products have been developed over many years with extensive research into their performance in real world conditions so it’s important to use them correctly when applying them externally.

We recommend using an experienced contractor like Onyx who has access to all these materials and knows how best they should be installed in order to achieve optimum performance from your external waterproofing system.
